Sunday Bible Study
The purpose of our Sunday Children’s Bible studies is to train our community’s children in Christian principles and godly behavior. Sunday Bible Study begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 10:45 AM. There is a snack served in the gymnasium before the children begin their Children’s Church session.
Children's Church
Children’s Church is held during the adult’s morning worship service between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. While Sunday Bible Studies focuses on Biblical themes such as Love, Faith, Hope and being obedient, Children’s Church focuses on Bible stories: the Who, What, Why and Where of the story. Stories are expressed through puppet shows, flannel graphs, acting, videos and simple readings. We use reinforcement centers to review biblical stories. The children are frequent visitors in the 11:00 AM Worship Service.
Explorers
The Explorer program teaches our children, between the ages of 6 and 11, Bible verses and longer passages. Children learn the books of the Bible, certain Psalms, the Beatitudes, parables and many verses. Once a year, during our “Court of Knowledge”, our children display their memorization skills, much to the admiration of our parents.
Satellites
The Satellite program teaches our 3-5 year olds shorter passages, pledges to the flags and verses. Both ministries are held from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM every Wednesday evening.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
VBS is held every summer (usually in July or August) for children 3 years old up to 6th grade. VBS is designed to provide a daily, week long adventure for all children. While on their adventure, they study the Bible, learn songs, and have crafts and recreation. It is a positive Christian environment that builds a child’s faith and love for God.
Noah's Ark Preschool
Understanding the ever growing need to find a safe and quality daycare in this day and age, the South Bay Church of God has sought to maintain our daycare to meet the needs of our congregation and our community. Noah’s Ark Preschool is a state-licensed facility established in 1964. Noah’s Ark provides a safe and Christian environment for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Noah’s Ark also has an extended daycare for children in Kindergarten through the 5th grade. For more information, please contact our Director, Sherri Phelps at (310) 327-3083.

CALM
Craft and Leisure for Moms
CALM is designed for mothers who love to do crafts and at the same time, a place to make new friends, share experiences, laugh together, share prayers concerns and get that some-times needed short break from mothering. This group is for mothers who share the same stage of life of infant through school-age children. While moms are at CALM, their children are cared for by loving and dedicated child care workers in age-appropriate classes. CALM meets on the third Monday of each month from 9:15 AM to 11:45 AM. The membership/project fee is $30.00 per semester (The fall semester runs from Sept. to Dec.) which includes craft materials, refreshments, and the children’s care program. For more information please call Kathy Melillo at (310) 544-6362 or Lisa Isara at (310) 371-3765. |
Men's Prayer Breakfast
Prayer, Food and Fellowship
Men of all ages meet on the first and third Saturday of every month at 8:00 AM at the Billy's Café (5160 190th Street in Torrance, corner of 190th and Anza) for prayer, fellowship and breakfast. This is a time that men share their faith in Jesus Christ and share their concerns and friendship with each other. |
Sports
Basketball - Softball - Volleyball
Realizing the importance of exercise and “letting off a little steam” is what provides momentum for our Sports programs. What better way to get in shape than in the company of good Christian people. Currently, we have Basketball, Softball and Volleyball teams who compete in league games against other churches. Co-Ed Volleyball practice is on Mondays at 7:30 PM in the gymnasium, ages 16 and up. Co-Ed Basketball meets on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM in the gymnasium, ages 30 and over. Please call the church office at (310) 329-9411 for more information and come prepared to fellowship with other sports enthusiasts. |
